Being Realistic About Youth Sports

Sitting in the AD chair we are often brought into the discussion of multi-sport athletes vs. the athlete wanting, or possibly being forced, to specialize in only one sport. How to get people to listen

Effective, inspiring communication takes practice, commitment, honesty and a willingness to interact with the people you're trying to win over, writes Dave Pottruck. "Why" do we do what we do?

"People don't buy what you do; they buy why you do it. And what you do simply proves what you believe" Author and Presenter Simon Sinek in studying the leaders who've had the greatest influence in the world, discovered that they all think, act, and communicate in the exact same way-and it's the complete opposite of what everyone else does. This 18 minute TED Talk will enlighten you and cause you to evaluate how you are looking at your athletic department. Athletics is what we do...but ask yourself as the leader of the department "Why" do we do athletics?
